Theatre Week

This week I have been helping with Young Theatre Company's Summer show in a week. The play was 'Robin Hood and the Sherwood Hoodies'. I helped with tuck shop, helped kids practice their lines, assisted with costumes, made sure kids were on stage at the right time and were quiet backstage and even joined in with some of the dancing.

The show is a musical twist on the Legend of Robin Hood. This is very appropriate for where I live - near to Sherwood forest.  All of Robin's gang are in fact Actors. Maid Marion reads an article, in the paper and gets from in it that they are an angry gang of outlaws and wanted them to help her rob from the rich and give to the poor. Also the Sheriff of Nottingham gets squished in the Squisher and are some adorable Skunks.

The story and songs are all written by Craig Hawes. Some of his other plays for sale.

Bazaar and Rummage!

I have some exciting news about a new play and I will be designing the set for it. I haven't got the script yet but I shall be getting it on Saturday. I know that the play is set in a church hall and the set is static. I don't know much else so can't wait to get the script.

Aladdin Theatre Experience

For the last week I have been at the Acorn theatre helping with The Young Theatre Company latest performance Aladdin. I have been given the role of stage manager which involves me making sure the tabs (curtains) open and close at the correct time, make sure the correct scenery goes on stage at the right time and turn on rope lights, UV lights and some fake flames go on at the right time. Oh and also make sure that the cast, which includes about 50 children, keeps quiet when they are side stage. I have been at rehearsals Monday and Tuesday I was there 5-9 and then on Wednesday I spent the day at the theatre painting props and then that night was at rehearsals like the first two nights. Last night was there for the technical rehearsal where we all made sure we had the correct cues in the script.

I am really enjoying it at the theatre but it is pretty stressful making sure everything runs smoothly but I am excited and nervous for the proper shows that start tomorrow and go on all next week apart from Friday.
