My thinking here would be to have a costume that looked like someone had just stepped out of a grave. The preservatives we eat causes us not to degrade properly and this would be a costume to show that. 

Trapunto Mind Splurge

Just tried a new technique trapunto. Technique of enclosed wadding in fabric. Claustrophobic. Stuffing = stuff. Things trapping stuff in. Squashing down. Stiff. Podgy. Layering. Spilling out if thinking about applique. Mixing the techniques.

Sewing shapes. Drug shapes. Syringes. Pills. Spilling out weed. Trapping tiny things .

Environment land fill.
Gorging blobbyness. Spilling out guts.

I'm getting no where here. So I will connect some of these words to Pinterest and see what comes out and will also see what samples I can get from thinking about the words: trapped.
Layering.
Blobbyness.
Podgy.
I'm thinking about Gorging section too much.

Oil

A devastating disaster that can dramatically destroy the environment is an oil spillage. From this I thought about the effect it would have on a human and came up with these designs.

The big word in the middle. Oil. Thinking about the most horrific things oil can do it isn't too fun.

The most horrific situation here is war but that seems a bit deep to look into and not really connected to the environment. So the most visual word is an oil spillage. Looking at some of the images I have some plans for samples and designs.

Applique Fear Thyself Project

So initial thoughts after doing that. Image squeezing through the gaps. Trying to escape. Colours. Layers of a burger. Cake layers. Environment addiction layers of stuff. To much stuff. Scared fear. Distorted. Obesity. Rotting insides. Linked with addiction of substances addiction of having stuff. Having to much creates environmental issues.

Need to sort that ramble out and clicking the links explains a lot. Dye fabric
Looking at textile technique book.

Chiffon looks interesting. Straight away thinking I could use that. The fabric is quite bland and see through can be rag. Thinking hell and fear would be quite raggy. Cotton velvet accident is interesting. The corner accidentally fell in another dye and the folds give texture.
Linen quite pale. Wool his code felt dyed pink reminds me of brains. Looking at body parts rotting and what is happening to the body.

Environment rotting landfills. Death rotting colours.

Puff interesting pearly rotting colours. Flock binder pale drab colour can be made from it.

Applique similar to devore rotting the fabric away.

Here I chose pictures from some of the images on the initial Environment board. Smoke, Smog, Oil, Pollution, Disaster, Carbon.

Initial thoughts for this board are about smog and smoke. Creating this could be difficult but I will have look at making some samples to create it.

The robots are more related to the Materialism section.

Looking at some words from this I could get some interesting images/ideas.
