The orange got distorted as I draw on the Picture Plane so didn't really turn on the right shape in the end but I don't think it looks to bad in the end.

Drawing a Flower
Task 12
I found this task difficult, just to draw the lines around it and no shading looks really bad.

Drawing My Hand with An Object
This is task 11 and I have already drawn my hand and this task was to hold something and draw it. I first had to place the Picture Plane/Viewfinder over my hand cover one eye and draw around the lines of my hand.
I then shaded the space I was going to draw my hand. This adds a middle ground for shading and I prefer to work on a space that already has something than just a white space.
I got it wrong to start with but restarted and made it look better. Having a middle shaded space I could make it darker with going over it or make it lighter with an eraser.
Finished Piece
I think I could have added more shading to the piece, looking at it now but I'm very happy with it compared to my first drawing.

Drawing
Today I started this book, it has 44 different tasks to help me improve my drawing. The first task was to draw a self portrait which is below. I will be showing a few drawings as I go along.

New Sketchbook/roll
I've decided to use this as a sketchbook instead. I'm finding it easier and less daunting for some reason.

Mr Straw's Recipe Book
Design:
I was asked to design the front cover of a recipe book that has recipe's that Mrs Straw used and other recipes that were used during that time. This is what I came up with, I wanted it to look like books I have seen in the house. Looking at it now I don't like it the colour isn't right. Below is the background I put in it to make it look 'old'.

I set out the book so it was ready to print and wouldn't have blank pages. To do this you have to have the middle pages at the bottom and work up, the high numbers after the middle go down on the left and the lower numbers go up on the left. Then you have to print on both sides of the pages, so can get complicated.
I was going to try make the print the same as the video below but the book wasn't thick enough to do this and was going to be printed on a small inkjet printer but the video is very interesting if you would like to bind your on book.

I have got my kit list through and there are three very interesting books on it.
I can't wait to read them.
