Dove Making - Head

Clay mould nearly ready to be covered in Virofoam.

In virofoam

Covered in Icewool.

A head tipping device I thought of but would have been difficult to attach.
It is a metal rod about 4mm thick laid across middle of neck and then then head would bob up and down a bit like a see-saw.

This brilliant device here is a piece of crinoline steel cut up in 15 cm strip and drilled into place. Leaving just enough room for the head to bob because of a gap between neck and head.

I made this. It is a pointy nose beak. The one before this was a bit stumpy and didn't look like a doves nose.
Looking at it now though it looks a bit too much like a ravens nose.

I was going to cover it with this, I wouldn't quite lye straight and was not the right colour.

Here is me working out the shape of the nose.

Trying foam out.

Ended up using this. It is a suede sample and was perfect colour for the nose.

The finished nose.

Eye placement, didn't quite work so have used something else.

This was the covering for the head, it is velvet and then has a beaded motif on it.
